About
From an early age I was always curious about how material objects were made, and I cultivated this curiosity throughout my life in both fine and applied arts. I always work towards creating both functional and artistic pieces that add more value, ideas, and beauty to our world. I will continue this mission til I am no longer here, and hope that some of the inspiration, work, and relationships will live on.
My work and art is highly influenced by the shapes, forms, thoughts and values, which connect us humans to the nature. In a fast living world, we should stop more often to think and reflect for where, why and how we are. Through my work I strive to connect the inner self to the world around us and open minds to their own nature, and the one that surrounds us.
The art shown here is part of the “Elemental” series began several years ago with my nature inspired compositions done in Northern New Mexico, where I lived for many years, and have always visited. They are full of surreal geometric and organic forms and language, and vivid colors influenced by the urban and natural landscape, as well as an interior cellular landscape.
The distillation of the series to some of these highly graphic and vivid, almost pulsating canvases, featuring all the elemental motifs, is a major focus over the last few years.
Like many artists, my method for this series is highly conductive, as I find myself in a flow state and simply acting as a conduit or medium to these visions and energy once a seed of an idea, and composition has been planted. Many of the paintings can actually be hung in various orientations because of their organic nature. The work is also influenced by visual artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Roger Brown, Philip Guston, and musicians such as AC/DC, Miles Davis, Zero 7, and others, but mostly the flora, landscape, and atmosphere – of the biology of the earth, and inner workings of my mind.
More About the artist: Evan started drawing at an early age as a way to connect and make sense of this world, and has dedicated a majority of his life to specialized creative work in the field of multidisciplinary art and design. He attended art school at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and has worked on a variety of projects, with clients and collaborators including the Rockwell Group, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Transit Authority, Meow Wolf, Elkay Manufacturing, Hilton Corporation, and most recently Sarcos Robotics as part of UCS.
He has also led two art spaces, EGG in Chicago, and Eggman & Walrus in Santa Fe, NM. His artwork has been collected internationally, and he has art installations in the USA, Mexico, and Asia. Enjoy!
